Atmospheric Wooden Architecture at Kiyosumi Gardens




A traditional Japanese style  architecture projecting into the pond located on the center of the garden.
It was built in 1909 and renovated in 1985.
It is a symbolic architecture of the garden and used as a meeting space.

Stepping Stone Pathway in the Pond




There are stepping stone pathways across shallow parts of the pond at Kiyosumi gardens which is a Japanese-style garden located in Koto ward.
You can enjoy view of the pond from the pathways.

Kiyosumi Gardens






Kiyosumi Gardens is a Japanese-style garden located in Koto ward.
A beautiful pond located on the center of the garden occupy large portion of the garden.
The garden is rich in nature, and many rare stones gathered from all over Japan are arranged in the garden.

Japanese Wax Tree at Kiyosumi Gardens



I took this photo five days ago.
Usually, color of leaves on that tree change to deep red in middle of November, but some green leaves still remained on that time.
I suppose it was affected by big typhoons visited here in Tokyo in this summer.

Kiyomizu Kannondo



Kiyomizu Kannondo is a hall of Kaneiji Temple.
It is located on a clif at southern part of Ueno Park.
This hall was modeled after Kiyomizudera Temple in Kyoto, and it has a large vermilion stage.

Monster Stone Lantern in Ueno Park




A huge stone lantern standing near Ueno Toshogu shrine in Ueno park.
It is around 6 meters tall, and called "OBAKE TORO (monster lantern)", because of its hugeness.

Statue of Ota Dokan at Tokyo International Forum



A statue of Samurai wearing a Japanese woven hat and having a bow in a modern high-tech style building.
Ota Dokan (1432-1486) is a samurai in late Muromachi period, and he is well known as the builder of the Edo castle.
Tokyo International Forum is a convention center located close to Tokyo and Yurakucho stations.

Japanese Style Garden Pond at Hibiya Park




This is a pond called Shinji-ike.
Hibiya park was created as a western style park, but the pond and the surroundings are designed as Japanese traditional style garden.

This pond was used to be a part of one of moats of Edo castle.
You can see stone walls on the side of the pond.

Hydrangeas by the Lotus Pond



Shinobazu pond at Ueno park in a cloudy day.
Shinobazu pond is divided into three parts, and the part of the pond is called lotus pond.
Hydrangeas are flower of rainy season, so those look more beautiful at waterside.

Odaiba is a artificial island in Tokyo bay.
I took these photos at Odaiba Marine Park.
you can see the rainbow bridge from there, and you can also see many anchors on the beach.

Fujimi Turret




Views of the Fujimi turret from the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace.
Fujimi turret is one of the three existing turret of former Edo castle.

They developed a small square just near the turret in 2016, and you can see the turret up close.

Ninomaru Pond in Early May




The Pond at the Ninomaru Garden in the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace.
Hyacinth orchids by the pond are in bloom, and the aquatic plants on the water have started producing tiny yellow flowers.

This historical wooden gate is an outdoor exhibition of Tokyo National Museum, Ueno park.
I have already shown you this gate as an article,"Kuromon Gate",in this blog.
I captured the gate again, because the cherry blossoms by the gate were so beautiful.

Cherry blossoms at Tokyo National Museum's Garden







There is a large garden behind the main building of Tokyo National Museum.
The garden is open to public during the cherry blossoms viewing season and autumn leaves season.
Ten varieties of cherry trees are planted in the garden.
It is calm in the garden, you can enjoy cherry blossom viewing in a relaxed mood.

Ueno Toshogu Shrine on the Snowy Friday Morning




I went to Ueno Toshogu Shrine on a snowy morning in order to take photos of winter peonies in the snow.
I got to the shrine around nine, but the peony garden in the shrine open at nine thirty.
Befor the garden open, I walked around the shrine, and I had a different impression to when I had ever visited there.
There were a few visitors in the shrine.
In the snow, structures and the approach of the shrine were far more beautiful and fantastic than I had anticipated.

Winter Peonies in the Snow
