You can view the garden from the exterior corridor which surround the garden.

Wood Carvings at Shibamata Taishakuten Temple

There is a temple hall named Taishakudo in Shibamata Taishakuten temple.
Outer walls of the hall are decorated with many beautiful carvings.
Especially, ten carved wood panels set on the walls are stunning.
Those are scenes in the stories from Lotus Sutra.

Taishakudo and the Pine Tree

When you go through the main gate of Shibamata Taishakuten temple, you will see the temple hall named Taishakudo infront of you.
There is a large Japanese black pine tree by the hall.

Gate of Shibamata Taishakuten Temple

If you walk along the approach to Shibamata Taishakuten Temple from Shibamata station, you will see the graceful gate.
When getting to the gate, you will realize how beautiful it's details are.
The gate named Nitenmon was built in 1896.

Shibamata Taishakuten Temple

Shibamata Taishakuten is a Buddhist temple founded in 1629.
Shibamata is an old town located on the edge of Tokyo.
The temple and the town has been made famous all over Japan by the popular Japanese film series "Otoko wa Tsurai yo"("It's tough being a man").

Approach to Shibamata Taishakuten Temple

The approach leading to the main gate of Shibamata Taishakuten that is a Buddhist temple located in Shibamata, Katsushika ward.
There are many old shops selling traditional snacks along both side of the path.
You can stroll along the approach in a nostalgic atmosphere.
